De Huurwoningbemiddelaar: member administration

Here it did not stop at a website. Behind the site sits the administration in which homes and members are kept, and in which members manage their own registration.

The situation

Matching rental homes with people looking for one is administrative work: you need to know which homes there are, what becomes available, who is registered and what they are looking for. It almost always starts in files and in the mailbox, and that goes well until the number of registrations grows.

From that point on, every change costs office time. A member who moves sends an email, someone retypes it, and whoever forgets works with outdated data from then on. The listings on the website were also a separate task, so they were always slightly behind.

What we built

The administration beneath the website

One registration for homes and members, in which the website is a view of the data and not a separate list.

Property registration

Rental homes are recorded with their details and availability. What is free and what is not is kept in one place instead of in a file someone has to update.

Member administration

Anyone who registers ends up in the administration, with the details needed to find them a home. No more separate sign-up emails that have to be retyped.

Members manage their own registration

A member logs in and keeps their own details and preferences up to date. That saves office work, and the data is more current because the person concerned fills it in themselves.

Website and system in one

What visitors see on the website comes from the same administration. So there is no separate step in which the listings on the site are updated.

What it delivered

The most important shift is who keeps the data up to date. Because members manage their own registration, part of the office work disappears and the data becomes more current at the same time: the person concerned knows best what has changed.

  • What is on offer comes straight from the administration, so the website no longer lags behind reality.
  • Registrations arrive as data rather than as emails, so nothing has to be retyped any more.
  • Homes and members are in the same administration, so matching is a matter of searching rather than comparing lists.

The technology

Website and administration run on a single Laravel application. The secure area where members log in works the same way as a customer portal: everyone sees only their own data.

Do you still keep your own administration in files? Then take a look at custom business software.
